AOL gets its broadband unbundled

AOL has emulated rivals Wanadoo and Tiscali and placed its first LLU (Local Loop Unbundling) orders with BT. It has already begun a small trial in London but the number of exchanges and locations that the ISP plans to unbundle is not known. NISCC warns of email attacks on 300 key UK systems

The National Infrastructure Security Co-ordination Centre (NISCC) issued a report today warning that almost 300 key UK Government departments and major commercial organisations are being targeted by a highly sophisticated wave of email-borne attacks. The NISCC says that while the attacks have been in existence for sometime, lately there appears to have been a significant surge in the numbers of email involved. The attacks take the form of Trojans attached to emails, often with spoofed sender addresses and content designed to either tempt the victim into opening an attachment or visiting a malicious website in order to trigger the installation of malicious code. ...more
