Yahoo Video to host 'viewer created' TV content

In another twist in the current rush for anything resembling video on the web, Yahoo has signed a deal with Al Gore's (yes, that one) Current TV service to create to create a new social network based around TV style channels. Current TV, a pioneer in what is called 'viewer created content' allows programme makers to put their own videos online. Microsoft opens appeal against Eolas ruling

Microsoft was back in court again yesterday in an attempt to overturn a $565 million damages award. The software giant is appealing in a Federal Court against a ruling in a lower court in Chicago that Internet Explorer infringed patents held by developer Eolas, a spin-off of the University of California. The central issue is whether the 1998 Eolas patent - which covers imbedding small programs within browser and purports to cover plug-ins and applets - is valid. ...more

EPSON introduces new Stylus inkjet

The inkjet that thinks it's a laser, could almost be EPSON's line on the Stylus C80, which produces black and colour output. EPSON claims printing of 2880 dots per inch for its latest Stylus, aimed at home and small office users. Alongside a print rate of 20 pages/min (in black) and 13 pages/min (in colour), the Stylus C80 uses pigment ink for both black and colour output, which will be good for the outdoor types who take their documents with them. ...more

AMD slashes prices, introduces XP-M 3000+

AMD has matched Intel's price cutting with a round of its own. Leading the way, in percentage terms, are the 64-bit Opteron servers. The 8-way 800 models have been cut by as much as 40 per cent (the 844), with the 200 and 100 models also seeing cuts of up to a third. ...more
