Sweden's Pirate Party cut short

Sweden's recently formed Pirate Party is expected to win 33,000 votes in the country's national elections, failing to gain the one per cent of the total vote that it needed to gain financial support from the state at future polls. Monitors pose health risk says report

Monitors could be making people ill, says a new study from Swedish researchers. They found that the flame retardant chemical triphenyl phosphate is released when monitors heat up, causing complaints such as itching, blocked noses and headaches. The effect is only detected in new monitors when they're switched on for the first few times, but the study found that chemicals lingered even after 180 days of continuous use. ...more
