DoCoMo brings 3G FOMA service to Europe

NTT DoCoMo is to introduce its 3G FOMA service to Europe through a showroom in Paris, where punters will be able to try out the service by a direct connection to the Japanese network. The Alcatel showroom will offer connection to a FOMA base station, which is connected via a private line to the DoCoMo network in Japan. The Spanish owned mobile operator O2 is the latest mobile company to join the rush to convergence with the purchase of the high-speed broadband operator Be in a deal worth ?50 million. Founded only two years ago in 2004, Be was the first UK broadband internet service provider (ISP) to use ADSL2+ technology, which theoretically offers speeds of up to 24Mbps. Thousands march in protest of iPod murder

Belgian police have estimated that 80,000 people joined a silent march through the country's capital on Sunday to commemorate the 17-year-old man who was murdered for his iPod last week. Joe Van Holsbeeck died from stab wounds after refusing to give up his music player to two men. Wave of malicious websites exploit new IE vulnerability

Microsoft's week of woes continues with the news that a number of malicious sites have cropped up taking advantage of an unpatched bug in Internet Explorer. Redmond is seeking to reassure customers that it is addressing the problem that affects the vast majority of copies of Internet Explorer in the hands of customers - including fully patched versions of Windows XP with SP2.
