Napster and record industry go another round

MP3-swapping software firm Napster was in court again on Monday, and this hearing didn't progress the argument much. Both Napster and the record industry set out their cases again to three federal judges, who are expected to make a decision in around a month. EA says yes to Xbox

Microsoft has announced that Electronic Arts is to develop a number of games for its new console, the Xbox. Electronic Arts is planning to release at least 10 games for the Xbox launch and has already asked Microsoft for 500 Xbox development kits. The news comes as no surprise as Electronic Arts was one of the development teams that took part on the Xbox advisory panel that helped Microsoft come up with the initial Xbox specification. ...more

Robots need rights, claims UK government research

Robots may have to be given similar rights to their human counterparts, as advances in technology enables them to perform in increasingly similar, even better, ways to man. According to a raft of new futurology papers, commissioned by the government, society will have to adapt to offer robots appropriate housing, healthcare and other support, when they develop to the point of being able to reproduce and have artificial intelligence.
