BT begins BlackBerry Internet Service

BT has launched a service for small businesses that lets them send and receive email from a BlackBerry handheld without having to install special server software or IT infrastructure. BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) can collate mail from up to 10 existing accounts, or the user can set up an account specifically for the handheld, and it then pushes through new email or diary dates to the device as well as synchronising it with the office PC. EA's FIFA 07 football game (DS, GBA, GC, Mob, PC, PS2, PSP, Xb, Xb360) was the Christmas number one and has now held the top spot going into 2007, according to the ELSPA UK games chart. Its footballing rival, Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (PC, PS2, Xb360, DS, PSP), climbs one place to number two. Amazon and IBM settle patent dispute

Amazon and IBM have announced that they have settled all patent lawsuits between them. Amazon will make an undisclosed payment to IBM and the two companies have agreed a long-term patent cross-license agreement. IBM filed two patent infringement lawsuits against Amazon in October 2006, relating to e-commerce technology used by its online sales service. ...more

Wanted: 30,000 redundant PCs

Computer Aid International, which claims to be the biggest supplier of professionally refurbished computers to schools and community organisations in developing countries, is asking British companies to donate unwanted Pentium 3 and 4 PCs rather than throw them in a skip. So far, the organisation has re-equipped and shipped out 70,000 PCs to the developing world. The new campaign, groaningly called 'Make IT Happen', has set itself a target of refurbishing 100,000 PCs by its 10th birthday on the 10th October 2007 and so needs to find around 30,000 more unwanted bits of kit in 15 months. ...more

Google shuts the door on rival for AOL Europe's search ads

Google has snatched business away from Yahoo for providing contextual advertising in search results for AOL Europe. It has been announced that in future, Google will provide targeted ads to AOL's 6.3 million users across Europe. ...more
