Unmetered Internet access for the UK is almost here. Oftel has put the squeeze on BT with new guidelines that prevent it charging rivals by the second for all connections going through the BT network. The Dixons Group is launching a commercial IT support service today, with the creation of some 2,000 new jobs. Dixons reckons that 'The TechGuys' is perfectly placed to tap into a market worth ?1bn a year, with 3,000 experts offering round the clock support, one of the largest technical databases in Europe and 2m spare parts. Apple delays Leopard release until October

Apple has announced that Mac OS X 10.5 will not be released, as previously expected, in June, but has been delayed until October. In a statement the company explained that in order to meet its June deadline for the release of the iPhone, many development resources that would otherwise have been deployed on Leopard have instead been deployed on the widescreen iPod-phone-Internet communicator. ...more
