Opera 7.5 Web software released

Opera has updated its eponymous cross-platform Web software, completely revamping the user interface in the process. A single panel now gives access to all Opera's features, the browser, email and contacts and as well as the new RSS news reader and IRC-compatible chat client. Logica to axe UK jobs

Logica, one of the UK's major technology companies, is looking to cut as much as five per cent of its workforce. As many as 250 positions, according to the Financial Times, will be shed. The divisions that will be affected have not been disclosed. ...more

BBC to broadcast World Cup games online

The BBC is to broadcast its World Cup 2006 games live on the Internet. The Corporation has signed what it describes as an exclusive deal with Infront Sports & Media, which is the company responsible for the worldwide marketing and sales of the broadcast rights to the 2006 FIFA World Cup, having been appointed by FIFA.
