IT Forum 2005: Exchange 12 to be 64-bit only

While Bob Muglia covered a future update release of Windows Server "Longhorn" R2 being 64-bit only in 2009, an aspect of Exchange Server's development wasn't highlighted: that Exchange 12 (E12), the next major version of Microsoft's messaging and collaboration server, will only be made available in 64-bit form. Microsoft UK's IT Evangelist Manager Eileen Brown, however, has flagged the news in her Technet blog. Indonesia agrees software piracy amnesty with Microsoft

The government of Indonesia has struck a deal with Microsoft to pay one dollar for each government computer running pirated Microsoft software according to the BBC. With one of the worst records for software piracy in the world, it is estimated that tens of thousands of Indonesian official computers run some form of illegal Microsoft code. The BBC quotes figures which suggest that 87 per cent of the software in Indonesia is pirated. ...more
