Apple shares stomp upwards with Boot Camp

Apple's share price rose sharply yesterday following the news that the company has developed software that enables Intel-based Macs to run Windows XP. Analysts believe that Boot Camp, which was released as a public beta ahead of the inclusion of the finished version in the next major revision of Mac OS X, could make Macs more attractive to a considerable number of PC users who, for one reason or another, still want to be able to run Windows software. Government focuses e-services on digital television

Television to be key framework for delivering government services online. At a product launch of an Internet-enabled set-top box, Anwar Choudhury, Director of Markets Technology and Innovation, revealed 'a new policy programme that requires every government department to consider digital television (DTV) as a key framework for delivering online services'. Intel launches Celeron range with 64-bit memory addressing

Intel has introduced a new family in the budget priced range with the Celeron D 351, fitted with so-called Extended Memory 64 Technology. With the announcement, Intel says it has completed the transition of its entire line to EM64T. As a result, 64-bit memory addressing is now standard across the whole range of desktop and server processors although not, as yet, the notebook range. ...more

NTL bids for Virgin Mobile

The cable television company NTL is bidding to take over Richard Branson's Virgin Mobile business in a deal thought to be worth over ?800 million. Under the terms of the deal Branson would swap his 72 per cent holding in Virgin Mobile for a 14 per cent stake in the new business. The assets of the new group would offer the trendy 'quadruple' play of telephone, broadband, TV and mobile, which is being sought by media groups across the world. ...more
