Oracle leads the way down in Java data mines

The Java Community Process (JCP) has approved a new Java Data Mining specification. It is described by Oracle as the industry's first standard for enabling data-mining to be incorporated into any app requiring advanced data analysis. Apple responds to consumer rights bodies of iTunes terms tussle

Apple has met Tuesday's deadline for its response to claims by local consumer groups that the iTunes Music Store violates consumer protection laws in Norway, Denmark and Sweden. But the contents of Apple's 50-page submission have not been made public, after the company requested that at least parts of its remain confidential. Fog forms first walk-through screen

A Finnish university has developed the world's first walk-through display, by projecting images onto a penetrable dry fog screen. The 'Walk-thru' technology comprises a airflow inside which a thin fog screen is injected. Microsoft to advise House of Lords on Net security

Senior Microsoft executives will face the House of Science and Technology Committee to answer questions as part of the House of Lords Internet Security Inquiry. Jerry Fishenden, National Technology Officer and Matt Lambert, Government Affairs Director at Microsoft will appear this Thursday to give evidence to the committee, answering questions on what it has done to protect Windows users online and its co-operation with competitors in safeguarding people online.
