HomeChoice goes the local loop unbundling route for multimedia broadband

HomeChoice has turned to local loop unbundling to increase bandwidth for its combined ADSL, TV and video-on-demand broadband package. VideoNetworks (VNL), which supplies the service, has installed its own equipment in 12 exchanges across North-West and West London. European ISP Wanadoo has been at the centre of a security storm when it was revealed that unsecured web pages allowed anyone access to the email account details of thousands of its subscribers. According to posts on the Wanadooproblems forum, an index page hosted in Portugal offered unsecured access to folders containing the email details of some 20,000 dial-up accounts. Palm to develop Linux-based OS

Palm has confirmed that it is developing its own Linux-based operating system for its range of PDAs and smartphones. During a meeting with analysts, CEO Ed Colligan revealed that, as has been rumoured, Palm has been working on the new OS for several years, adding that he believes it will enable the company to better compete with rivals who use Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system.
