BT's mobile lets you lie in on a morning

BT is developing a handset that will send you a timed wake up call based on downloaded traffic information and the phone's estimate of how long it will then take you to travel to work. The user programs the route they take to work, and the phone then downloads traffic information for that day from the Net, calculates the best route and time needed. The British government has joined a world wide initiative to make life more difficult for spammers to forward email and hide their origins. A group of 26 countries have signed up to the Secure Your Server' initiative led by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Apple UK has denied that it plans to move some iTunes Music Store operations to the Channel Islands. The Daily Telegraph claimed that the computer maker aimed to exploit tax loopholes to sell music VAT-free from Guernsey.
