AMD opens R&D Centre in Shanghai

Chip company AMD has thrown open the doors to its new Shanghai Research and Development Centre (SRDC). Located in Zhang Jiang technology complex, AMD plans to employ hundreds of staff at the facility, which will be AMD's largest system design hub outside of the US. IBM has released a new PowerPC chip, the 750CXe, which it claims is the 'highest performing' of its kind. The Associated Press reports that Lawrence Eagleburger, the chairman of the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims has criticised IBM over a dispute that has arisen over unpaid bills involving a similar, but unrelated, compensation group.
