Microsoft has announced the winners of its IE7 add-on development contest. In a back-handed compliment to Firefox, however, the main prize was scooped by Core Services for its mimicking of the open-source browser's search behaviour. Sony revisits the Walkman music player

Sony has unveiled its latest portable music player, known simply as the Walkman. The new Walkman is available in two sizes - 20GB and 6GB - and two colours - silver and violet - with an organic EL display and straightforward controls. IBM attacks SCO's copyright claims

IBM has filed a motion seeking a summary judgement in its favour against SCO's claims of copyright infringement because it has yet to provide any evidence of this. SCO added copyright claims and another $2bn to its mammoth $3bn suit against IBM in February after dropping one of its main thrusts in its original suit - that IBM had misappropriated its trade secrets. At that point SCO amended its case with the claim that IBM had infringed its copyrights, after revoking its Unix licence in July last year. ...more

UK games chart: Spartan: Total Warrior scales the charts

EA's multi-format football game FIFA 06 keeps the number one spot for the third week running in the ELSPA UK games chart. And there's not much room at the top because EA's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, holds its position at number two, with Sega's Spartan: Total Warrior (pictured) climbing from eight to three. FileMaker has released the Developer version of its database creation and management software. The developer version enables customised FileMaker database systems to be deployed via the Web, across workgroups or as standalone applications and has a site of tools designed to speed up and simplify the process of database development.
