Apple subpoenas 'rumour' sites to find leak

Apple has been granted permission to subpoena three Mac-oriented websites as part of its attempt to discover who leaked confidential information about a future Apple product. AppleInsider and PowerPage will be ordered to hand over 'documents relating to the identity of any individual or individuals who have knowledge regarding the source of posts on its site disclosing information', The Mac Observer has discovered. Movie fans who swap films online should take note - the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) intends to step up its legal attack on those distributing content over the Internet. The collective association for Hollywood studios is expected to change tack and begin pursuing individuals suspected of swapping unauthorised material over peer-to-peer networks, as opposed to its previous pursuit of organised pirates.
