Internet muscles in on the music market

The Internet is taking a bigger and bigger share of the international music market, according to new figures published by the International Federation of Phonographic Industries (IFPI). Not only is the number of downloads stores expanding, with 180 launched in 2004 alone taking the global total to more than 300, but Web sales of CDs are steadily encroaching on record shops' territory. BBC raids archive to sell video footage

The BBC has made more than 300,000 hours of its own and CBS News' programming available in its online Motion Gallery. The gallery is aimed at media professionals who wish to use the clips for corporate videos, new media, films, television and advertising. With the PC Tablet initiative started by Microsoft, it hasn't taken LG Electronics long to jump on the PC pad bandwagon. The new LG iPad boasts an 8.4in colour LCD screen, Bluetooth wireless LAN connectivity and utilises a 200Mhz StrongArm CPU, but this will be upgraded to an Intel 400Mhz CPU in the future. ...more

It's steady as you go in this week's ELSPA games chart with EA Sports' FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 (PC, PS2, Xbox and Xb360) holding sway at the top. Asus strikes UK shores with LCD panels

Asus is entering the UK LCD monitor market with four new 17in models. To make its mark in what is already a crowded space, the company is offering a 1 year 'ZBD' (Zero Bright Dot) returns policy.
