BT profits up 55 per cent

BT has announced profits of ?496m for the last quarter, a rise of 55 per cent. Revenues were up two per cent. It has also made further inroads into its debt, reducing it by ?285 million to ?13. ...more

Yahoo! pushes Panama search advertising into Europe

Following its debut in the States, Yahoo! has announced the UK and European launch of Panama, its new sponsored search advertising platform. According to Yahoo!, it offers advertisers improvements such as the ability to rotate different ads through the system to find the most effective ad mix, ad budgeting based on desired advertising outcomes and a way to test different keyword search terms for advertising effectiveness and geographic targeting. The search marketing software system, known by the code name Panama, has been available since October last year to existing Yahoo! customers in the US, and was expanded to new US customers in December of last year. ...more

Oftel has published a survey that enables consumers to compare the performance of mobile network operators, region by region. David Edmonds, Director General of Telecommunications said today: 'Reliability as well as price is an important consideration when buying a mobile phone. Updated: Dell to hold recycling day at its Euro HQ

Dell UK is holding a computer-recycling day at its European Headquarters on Saturday 17 September. Anyone is welcome to bring along any unwanted computer equipment from home that will be collected packed and recycled, at no charge. The company allows up to five computers and related equipment per car, so IBM won't be allowed to empty its warehouse full of old PCs onto Dell. ...more
