Mobile industry should learn from Apple, says EMI boss

The mobile phone industry should take a leaf out of Apple's book if it wants to exploit the huge potential for mobile music sales, the chief executive of EMI told the CTIA wireless trade show yesterday. Microsoft asks for antitrust delay

Microsoft has asked for more time and longer hearings from the US Court of Appeals in its antitrust case. The software firm has requested 60 days and 56,000 words in which to make its case, with the US government getting the same. Apple scoops half-a-billion dollar profit

Apple narrowly failed to hit the one million mark for laptop sales, despite shifting a record number of Macs in the last financial quarter. Sales of 986,000 MacBooks plus 624,000 desktop Macs underpinned revenues of $4.8 billion and a $546 million profit, increases of 31 per cent and 27 per cent respectively on the same quarter last year. ...more

Google Adsense to accept image ads

Google is to expand its AdSense pay per click scheme to include image ads. The search engine is currently piloting a scheme so that websites can include a variety of standard advertising formats as animated GIFs Amongst the sizes accepted under the pilot scheme are Banners at 468 x 60 pixels, Leaderboards at 728 x 90, Inline Rectangles 300 x 250 and Skyscrapers 120 x 600.
