RIAA says Net karaoke is not OK

The US record industry has apparently taken offence at a new trend of kids making videos of themselves singing along to popular songs and posting the result on websites such as YouTube. According to music website Project Opus, the Recording Industry Association of America has sent cease-and-desist letters to YouTube users, demanding that said videos be removed from the site. P2P-based Internet telephony comes to Linux, courtesy of Skype

Internet phone startup Skype announces a beta Linux client. Previously only available on Windows and PocketPC handhelds, the much hyped Net-telephony technology is now available in beta on Linux, due to enthusiasm from the community. NTT DoCoMo to launch Wristomo Wristwatch Phone in Japan

Japanese telecoms giant NTT DoCoMo is to begin sales of the Wristomo, the world's first commercial wristwatch-style Personal Handyphone System mobile phone, on May 7, 2003 in Japan. Costing 37,000 yen, excluding tax, (?193), it comes with a standard accessory kit including battery charger, cushioned pad and adjustable wrist band. Egg ditches current account plans

Internet bank Egg said yesterday that it would suspend plans for a current account until the market is more favourable. The company, founded and majority-owned by the Prudential, is famous for its Internet credit card, but is running shy of introducing a current account after reporting losses of ?155m in 2000. According to reports in The Guardian, Egg believes the market is too conservative for an Internet-based current account. ...more
