Yahoo has revamped its Photos site and made it available to a select number of beta testers. Although Yahoo's Flickr photo tagging and sharing site that the company bought last year is more widely used, it tends to be the domain of the more serious photographer and user. Orange unpeels its 3G service

French-owned mobile phone operator Orange became the third company in the UK to launch its 3G service - just in time for Christmas. The company follows 3 and Vodafone into the market with the aim of sigining up two million subscribers by the end of 2006. Amongst the offerings to tempt the punter to sign up for the service are Sky news video feeds, film trailers, music and ringtone downloads, behind the scenes football 'exclusives' and Traffic TV which gives access to motorway CCTVs. ...more

Apple sells 100 million iPods

Five years since its launch, Apple has sold its 100 millionth iPod - a landmark that Apple claims makes it 'the fastest selling music player in history'. Since its November 2001 launch, the portable music player has become the must-have gadget worldwide, with Apple introducing more than 10 new models to incorporate changing technology such as the ability to record and play videos, hold photos, and with more varied, fashionable colours. Majority of phishing websites 'assembled from kits'

New research has found that almost all phishing websites are made from off-the-shelf components available from the internet. The study carried out by IBM's Internet Security Systems subsidiary found that 92 per cent of new phishing web sites were kit-based. In response to Handspring's price cuts across its Visor range, Palm has said it doesn't fix its retail pricing and that many retail outlets are offering equally good deals on Palm products.
