UK, US, Aus agree on international plan to wipe out spam

The spam cops from the US, Australia and the UK are to pool their efforts to stamp out illegal spammers. The agreement is set out in a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the governments of the three countries which recognises that spam is an international problem which cannot be tackled by countries on their own. The agreement states that the countries wherever possible to co-operate in the identification, evidence gathering and prosecution of spammers within the national borders under the provisions of the relevant local laws. ...more

Phishing scams rival virus attacks in email tally

Phishing scams are nearly on a par with virus outbreaks, according to security company MessageLabs. The company scans more than a billion mails a month and says that the recent MyDoom-O outbreak generated 23,000 infected messages, which it picked up in the first five hours. However, it also recently spotted a phishing attack that targeted a US bank and was almost certainly spammed out to the tune of 125,000 copies, which were detected in the same timeframe. ...more

Nintendo has put a price cap on its forthcoming Wii games console. The company's senior management has declared that the Wii should sell for 25,000 yen or lower in Japan and $250 or lower in the US.
