Report urges BBC Online to stand aside for commercial competition

A report on the BBC Online services says that the corporation's web sites should be reined in. The Graf Report, published today, says that the websites should outsource up to 25 per cent of its content by the end of the 2006/7 financial year. The report also says that the Corporation should err on the side of caution when considering whether to launch an online service against a commercial competitor. ...more

New holes found in IE leave PCs vulnerable

New vulnerabilities in Microsoft's Internet Explorer could allow remote code to be run on the target machine, and there is currently no patch available. Security experts Secunia discovered the holes earlier this month and found they could be exploited even in a fully patched Windows machine. It said the only thing it has found to mitigate the vulnerabilities is the beta of Service Pack 2. ...more

HMV boss quits, blaming Internet

The online revolution in retailing saw its first high profile casualty yesterday.
