HP and Dell indifferent to stripped version of Windows XP

The worlds two largest PC makers have reacted with profound indifference, to the imminent availability of a version of Windows Media Player. Dell said it has no plans to offer it at all, while HP said that it will be an option but that it does not expect it to be in great demand. Californian Senate limits Google Gmail service

The California Senate has passed a bill limiting Google's freedom of action over what it can do with the personal information contained in emails processed by its nascent Gmail service. The Bill, which was passed 24-8, carried sufficient amendments to allow Gmail to go ahead under the original plan. There were fears that the Bill would curtail Google's proposals so much that the company would have to rethink the whole project. ...more
