Eclipse named Best Consumer Broadband provider in UK industry awards

Eclipse Internet was named Best Consumer Broadband provider at the annual Internet Service Providers Association Awards (ISPAs) last night. The independent ISP pipped ADSL2+ pioneer Be Unlimited as well as Entanet, Namesco and Seriously Internet to the award. Toshiba has taken the wraps off its Pocket PC e570 handheld. Already available in Japan as the Genio, the PDA is targeted at the corporate market, resplendent in its PocketPC 2002 livery and the high price that entails. Ask Jeeves seeks route to the desktop

Internet search company, Ask Jeeves has announced it has bought the privately owned Tukaroo Inc, a company which owns a desktop and network search technology. Founded in 2002, Tukaroo's patented technology is said to allow users to perform sub-second searches of files and their contents on the local hard drive, network, and the Internet as well as offering ways to categorise the results. Time runs out for SP2 refuseniks

Those companies who have been wary of installing Windows XP Service Pack 2, but have continued to update their systems via Microsoft's Automatic Update service have a dilemma from today. From now on, SP2 will be loaded automatically on machines running Windows XP and Windows XP Service Pack 1 that have the Automatic Updates feature turned on.
