Record annual fall in US music sales

The US music industry experienced its largest annual fall in revenues last year, despite a sharp increase in the sales of digital music. Figures from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) show a 13 per cent fall in the value of CD sales in 2006. X-rays via the Internet

Guys and St Thomas's Hospital in London have introduced a system whereby consultants can access X-rays and other health images over the Internet. The system, developed by Kodak, means that consultants on call can make diagnoses from home or other remote locations, and expert opinions can be sought from consultants across the globe instantly. Microsoft finds backing from the US Department of Justice

Microsoft may seek the help of the US Government to challenge the EU's anti-trust ruling at the World Trade Organisation. Brad Smith, Microsoft's general counsel, said that the company would be talking to the US authorities about the terms of the ruling, which are far more severe than those imposed by the US in a similar case. However, US trade officials may be unwilling to back the company, not least because if the WTO overruled the EU, it could set a precedent for decisions by other sovereign bodies, such as the US. ...more
