Knock-off Nokias - connecting people

Nearly one in three handsets are Nokia, as is every other seized counterfeit electrical item. Figures for customs interceptions of counterfeit and pirated articles in the EU for 2001 show that 52 per cent of electrical items seized were Nokia mobile phones. iBooks to go Intel in New Year

Think Secret claims to have information that Apple will release Intel-powered iBooks in January. The website says that 'highly reliable sources' indicate that the new consumer notebooks will be $200 cheaper then the current models, to be more competitive with leading PC laptop makers. 'Those sources have told Think Secret to not rule out the possible release of other Intel-based Macs at Macworld Expo, but that it is more likely the initial release of products with the new processor will be consumer-based products only and not professional, high-end lines, such as PowerBooks and towers, as some Web sites have reported,' writes senior editor Ryan Katz. ...more

Microsoft denies Tablet PC dive

Microsoft has said it has no reports of sales figures in decline for Tablet PCs, despite Canalys figures showing that shipments were down 23 per cent. The Canalys report showed shipments of Tablet PCs had taken the hit this quarter, and total shipments since launch had yet to reach 100,000. Even so, Microsoft has told us that however many products are shipping into the channel, sales for Tablet PCs have increased sequentially since launch, both globally and here in the UK. ...more
