Microsoft releases toolkit for controlling access to XP SP2

As part of the distribution of Windows XP Service Pack 2, Microsoft has released a set of tools for enterprise customers to control access to the new update. Essentially, it provides a way for corporate customers to retain access to automatic updates - for security patches, for example - while controlling rollout of the service pack. While the important security update to Windows XP has yet to be featured on the Microsoft's Automatic Update system, those who have already been trialling SP 2 - and are thus first in the queue for the code - are being given options to delay its distribution. ...more

The Radiocommunications Agency (RA) has set a date to auction off licences to provide wireless broadband. 14 April will be the closing date for applications to bid for the 15 licences to use the 3.4GHz spectrum that, if used at all, are most likely to be used as a 'last mile' solution to bring wireless broadband to more rural areas. ...more
