Sharp is introducing its AQUOS range of LCD TVs, which can be used to display pictures taken on a digital camera. The TVs feature a PC card slot with an adapter compatible with various memory cards. Talks tabled to put protected CDs on iPods

Record labels are in talks with Apple to find a way of making copy-protected CDs compatible with iTunes and iPods. Major labels have recently released albums from a number of high-profile artists that include software to prevent them being ripped on a PC. First Palm virus found

Experts have discovered what they claim to be the first example of a virus written specifically for the Palm platform. The new virus was sent to antivirus company Network Associates and although the company said the virus is not a high risk to Palm users, it warned that the popularity of handheld devices means that the devices are now viable targets for malicious programmers. Unsigned act makes history with chart entry

The UK band Koopa has made music chart history by being the first unsigned act to get a hit in the top 40, courtesy of digital downloads. The download-only single Blag Steal & Borrow registered on this Sunday's chart at number 31, netting the Colchester group even more online attention. With the recent change in rules governing the UK charts allowing download-only songs to be included, it had been expected that old favourites - from the likes of Snow Patrol and Gnarls Barkley would re-register in the charts, off the back of general music downloading. ...more

i-Mode in Europe

NTT DoCoMo's i-Mode service is being trialled in Europe by KPN Mobile, a network operator in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. KPN Mobile, 15 per cent owned by NTT DoCoMo, is testing the service with a small group of users over a GPRS network using NEC N21i handsets, based on those already in use in Japan.
