UK games chart: Cricket gets comfortable at the crease

August is always a quiet month for games and with no new entries in this week's ELSPA UK games chart we watch the existing pack shuffle - Ashes interest fuels Brian Lara's return to the top of the charts with Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 Behind Codemaster's cricket game for the PC, PS2 and Xbox, Activision's multi-format movie spin-offs line up, with Madagascar at two and Fantastic 4 at number three. Also benefiting from the efforts of Vaughn and his boys is Cricket 2005, EA's leather and willow game for the PC, PS2 and Xbox. Pressplay backs pressing CDs

Online music subscription service Pressplay has said it will allow the burning of downloaded files on to CDs. Pressplay, backed by Sony and Universal and also offering EMI's music catalogue among other labels', would be at a distinct advantage with this move over its rival MusicNet, backed by RealNetworks and the remaining major labels. However, while the Pressplay licence agreement will allow you to burn CDs, it won't allow you to export files to portable music players. ...more

Microsoft has delivered its batch of security bulletins for January. The latest 'Patch Tuesday' has seen the release of three fixes flagged as 'Critical'. The Vista keygen 'hoax' script causes confusion

The programmer who wrote a controversial VB script, which was claimed could unearth Windows Vista activation keys, has admitted the script was a hoax. Others, however, claim that the script works perfectly fine. The developer called 'Computer User', writing in the Keznews Forum, said that the script to find valid license keys for Windows Vista didn't work after all. ...more
