Met Office: Invest in supercomputing to tackle climate change

The UK Met Office has called for increased investment in its computing infrastructure to enable it to maintain its leading role in climate change research. The weather and climate monitoring organisation's research formed a large part of the recent Stern Report, which projected a calamitous economic impact if climate change is not tackled. Oracle reports profits and an increase in sales

The database giant has reported its quarterly results and revealed a 12 per cent increase in profits on the back of a two per cent increase in sales (year on year). For its third quarter, Oracle met analyst's expectations by declaring a net income of $571m from revenue of $2.31bn. ...more

Lenovo gears up for consumer markets

Lenovo has confirmed its plans to enter the consumer market, boasting of its Formula 1 driven branding success and announcing the release of a 'super luxury' notebook. The company has been outlining its business strategy for Europe and boasting of its success in driving the Lenovo brand, courtesy of its recent Formula 1 sponsorship of the AT&T and Williams team.
