iTunes to win 'exclusive' Beatles rights - report

Apple is close to winning exclusive online rights to The Beatles music, according to a Fortune report. The report claims that the details of the deal have yet to be finalised, but Apple's iTunes Store will be the sole source of Beatles downloads for a limited period, to the undoubted chagrin of other music store operators. 'Other music stores, such as Microsoft's and [Real's] Rhapsody, have courted the Beatles over the years to no avail, but it appears Apple is close to getting first dibs on the band's hits,' the report says. ...more

A Finnish university has developed the world's first walk-through display, by projecting images onto a penetrable dry fog screen. The 'Walk-thru' technology comprises a airflow inside which a thin fog screen is injected. Real patches RealOne vulnerabilties

Real Networks has issued patches in response to three vulnerabilities found in its RealOne players. Although the company says it has received no reports on anyone being affected by the security holes, it recommends that users with affected software should upgrade. The first problem, which affects RealOne Player, RealOne Player v2 for Windows only, the RealPlayer 10 Beta and all versions of the RealOne Enterprise Desktop or RealPlayer Enterprise edition allows an attacker run a malicious Javascript file from a domain opened by a SMIL or other file. ...more
