TFT LCD capacity booked up by notebook brands

To ensure stable supply and guard against price increases, two first-tier, international notebook vendors have booked the entire capacity of certain TFT LCD production lines in Taiwan, sources have told DigiTimes. The notebook brands are assuming all of the risk involved in operating the lines. Amazon to become PC seller

Internet shop Amazon will branch out into PCs later this year, the company has announced. The site, originally just a bookshop, already sells almost everything but the PC itself in its electronics' section and CEO Jeff Bezos says that customers have been asking for computers. Apple has recorded a year-on-year 43 per cent increase in computer sales and more than five million iPod shipments in its latest quarterly financial results.
