Another filter for safe surfing

The Internet Content Rating Association has released the ICRAfilter for parents to screen Internet content. Having worked to introduce a voluntary, source-embedded syntax for describing content (by which over 50,000 sites are labelled, apparently), ICRA's new filtering tool 'reads' the labels to help ensure content is filtered according to predefined values. Via puts a padlock on its chips

Via has announced worldwide availability of its Eden ESP10000 and ESP8000 processors. With their low-power consumption and fanless operation, the processors are aimed at the embedded or thin client market. Break up for BT?

Rumours that British Telecom may be split were fuelled at the weekend by the appointment as finance director of Philip Hampton, the man responsible for the break up of British Gas. But according to the Sunday Times, the impetus for the break up comes from deputy chairman Lord Marshall and other non-executive board members who are concerned about dissatisfied shareholders.
