Sony unveils Flash Walkmans

Sony has unveiled its first flash memory-based portable music players, with a bewildering array of nine different models. These latest additions to the Network Walkman portfolio offer 256MB, 512MB or 1GB of storage in three ranges; the entry-level NW-E100 series, the mid-range NW-E400 series and the high-end NW-E500 series. AMD unveils an Opteron fit for a supercomputer

As expected AMD has filled out its Opteron processor line with a new addition. Last week, AMD shuffled its processor pricing - AMD cuts prices for mobile computing - and the Opteron range was affected. Virgin doubles cable broadband to 20Mbit

Virgin Media, the newly rebranded cable operator, has confirmed that it will double its top-tier cable broadband service to 20Mbit from its current 10Mbit limit. The upgrade, which will be completed network-wide by June this year assuming no capacity or infrastructure problems are encountered, will catapult the company's broadband offering ahead of the various ADSL-based rival services on offer.
