Sanyo unveils 730MB digital camera

Sanyo has unveiled its new IDC-1000Z iDshot camera capable of filming up to 120 minutes of digital video footage or storing as many as 11,000 still images. The camera is built around Sanyo's new HRGP graphics processor, allowing video to be recorded in VGA resolution (640x480) at 30 frames per second and enabling 'high-speed' consecutive still shooting. IBM's Lotus unit is set to launch a service called Connections, dubbed as a 'MySpace for office workers' IBM is taking the battle for productivity software into the social networking arena. Up against the latest offerings from Office 2007, IBM's Lotus unit is set to launch a service called Connections featuring the online sharing of information. In a bid to improve the workings of groups it combines five components: member profiles, activities, blogs, communities and something called 'dogear', which is IBM's term for how users share web bookmarks with colleagues. ...more

Apple enters the living room

Breaking with its tradition of closely guarded secrecy about future products, Apple yesterday gave a preview of a new set-top box for wirelessly transmitting video from a Mac or PC to a TV. Codenamed iTV - a name that CEO Steve Jobs admitted needs changing - the device, looking like a Mac mini cut across in half, has wireless 802.11, Ethernet and USB inputs coupled with output via HDMI - the new combined, single-cable digital video and audio protocol, optical audio, component video and RCA (phono) audio. ...more

AMD preps sub-$250 reference PC

AMD is reported to be preparing to announce a design for a low cost PC aimed at under $250 without a monitor. According to CNet, AMD plans to unveil the machine this week.
