SCO is to offer its existing Linux customers its Unix IP licence for free, and has removed its Linux downloads from public access Following its very public attack on the legal standing of the GPL licence, under which Linux is distributed, SCO has removed Linux code on its site from public access, and asked its existing Linux customers to re-register all products to get a password for access. The reward is a free Unix IP licence. A statement on the site reads: 'SCO offers at no extra charge to its existing Linux customers a SCO UNIX IP license for their use of prior SCO or Caldera distributions of Linux in binary format. ...more

Virgin's Lobster grabs ITN News for mobile TV

Virgin Mobile has added ITN's 24-hour news channel to its mobile TV service. ITN will supply rolling home and international, sport and entertainment news, designed specifically for mobile phones. Number of websites charging for content falls - AOP

The Association of Online Publishers has revealed that the number of websites that charge for content has dropped, the first time the figure has fallen in the four years since the AOP began tracking the market. The fall is substantial, from 63 per cent of member sites a year ago to 37 per cent. Rising advertising revenues are behind the fall. ...more
