Britain's Internet users are Europe's shopaholics according to a new survey. 63 per cent of British home Internet users have bought something over the web in the past three months. Apple launches the iTunes Music Store in Australia

Apple has launched the iTunes Music Store in Australia and as happened in Japan it has done so without the backing of Sony BMG. Sony's decision will deny iTunes access to around 25 per cent of the world's commercially available music although its absence appeared to have little effect in Japan where Apple quickly established itself as the market leader. This is the 21st iTunes Music Store and Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of Applications, said that Apple now has an 80 per cent market share in most countries where an iTunes Music Store is open. ...more

Microsoft takes on US eBay counterfeit traders

Microsoft is ramping up its campaign against counterfeiting, filing eight suits in the US against eBay traders selling dodgy software. Microsoft fingered seven of the defendants through customers using its Windows Genuine Advantage tool, which determines whether Microsoft software is genuine and allows them to submit reports of where they bought the software if it proves counterfeit.
