AMD's M690 mobile chipset offers full Vista graphics

AMD's 690 chipset was the first fruit borne of the company's $5 billion purchase of graphics company ATI last year, and now AMD has released a mobile equivalent, the M690. While the 690 was designed to work with AMD's Athlon and Sempron processors, the M690 works with Turion 64 X2 dual-core mobile systems. Pace Micro Technology is developing a Multimedia Terminal Adaptor (MTA) that will enable cable operators to offer telephony services along with television and broadband data. The model can be used as a stand-alone unit or in conjunction with other set-top boxes such as Pace's home gateway. Vodafone and TomTom team on cellular nav system

Mobile phone signals sent from traffic jams will enable a real-time travel information service, British telecoms group Vodafone and Dutch navigation systems company TomTom said on Friday. The service will be available in the Netherlands in the second half of 2007, using the Dutch Vodafone network. Record label boss accuses Apple of not caring about the record industry

Record label boss and iTunes refusenik Tony Brummel has accused Apple of not caring about the record industry and called for labels to stop supplying content for the company's music store. In an editorial for Hits, Brummel, who has steadfastly refused to licence any content from his Victory Records label, asks why the record companies agreed to provide free [sic] content to Apple without negotiating a cut of iPod revenues 'Without the music industry, their site and their iPods are useless,' he claims. Critical flaw found in Microsoft's DirectX

Microsoft has alerted Windows users to what it describes as a critical flaw in its DirectX graphics and audio environment. Pete Philips, a penetration tester with S3 at Integralis, told us the flaw may be particularly tempting for attackers.
