Government cools on PKI

Nokia has successfully trialled a new mPosition technology that allows operators to pinpoint a mobile phone to within 100m. The enhanced observed time difference (E-OTD) positioning technology was trialled over Finnish operator Radiolinja's GSM900/1800 network and could lead to a range of location-specific services such as traffic reports, Location Messaging and would also support emergency calls. Hotmail, the world's largest free email service, is about to get a major overhaul according to the developer website Beta News. The site reports that an announcement of a Hotmail facelift may come as early as today. A Finnish university has developed the world's first walk-through display, by projecting images onto a penetrable dry fog screen. The 'Walk-thru' technology comprises a airflow inside which a thin fog screen is injected.
