Microsoft opens doors on new MSN search beta

As we reported yesterday Microsoft is releasing a beta version of its much-trailed search engine. The new search now contains some five billion pages gathered and indexed by Microsoft's own technology rather than using databases from Yahoo and LookSmart as it has in the past. Toshiba powers PCs on methanol

With what is quite literally a new solution, Toshiba has announced a prototype battery cell for laptops that uses a mix of methanol and water. Toshiba's direct methanol fuel cell (DMCF) manages an average 12W power output over ten hours on 100cc of fuel. The ingenious process uses water generated by the process of power-generation to dilute the methanol, so that the fuel can be 10 times more concentrated and therefore used in smaller size units. ...more
