Chip developer, VIA Technologies, has introduced a programme to validate JEDEC specification DDR400 memory for its chipsets for the Intel Pentium and AMD Athlon XP processors. The programme, developed in conjunction with Advanced Validation Labs (AVL), uses VIA's PT800 and KT600 reference platforms. Researchers schedule January as 'month of Apple bugs'

Two security researchers intend to kick off the new year by detailing a range of Mac exploits. Kevin Finisterre, an independent security researcher, and a hacker known only as LMH, will begin publishing information on vulnerabilities in Apple products on 1 January 2007. Pinnacle smiles on analogue shooters

Owners of analogue camcorders will be pleased to know that Pinnacle's latest editing suite, Studio Deluxe, supports analogue and digital video. The new release features a capture card that boasts inputs and outputs from and to DV and analogue camcorders, VCRs and TVs, meaning that those with analogue equipment will be able to upgrade to digital without changing the card, and that those already owning digital equipment will still be able to edit video on old analogue tapes, for example.
