Palm signs sports star to sell units

At the beginning of the week, it was announced by Palm that it is to produce a special edition of its handheld computer branded with the name of Michael Jordan, a US basketball star. This is not the first time the company has used a celebrity to hawk its products, it has previously released a Claudia Schiffer Palm and, with the fortunes of the company taking a downturn, this is probably not the last marketing ploy up its sleeve. Ask Jeeves gets new look

The popular Ask Jeeves search engine has joined the trend for a Google-like look and feel with a new streamlined look and new services. The new service claims to be 50 per cent faster and has followed the trend among search engines to offer a separate pictures, products and news libraries and a dedicated browser tool bar. Spoofed spam sibling sent to slammer

Following the first trial of its kind in the US, a brother and sister have been convicted of sending hundreds of thousands of spam emails. A third defendant Richard Rutkowski was cleared of charges. Finding the two defendants guilty of three charges each of sending emails with spoofed addresses, the jury recommended that Jeremy Jaynes be sentenced to nine years in prison and fined Jessica DeGroot $7,500. ...more
