Intel launches powerful new chips for mobile devices

Intel has unveiled a new series of processors aimed at the next generation of mobile phones and PDAs. The new chips are said to support DVD-quality video playback including MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 for a broad range of wireless broadband standards such as WiFi and 3G at 640 x 480 (VGA) resolution. Wikipedia to go offline

The founder of the Wikipedia is considering whether to make content from the online encyclopaedia available in print and on CDs and DVDs. Jimmy Wales explained that by making Wikipedia available off the Web would provide access to millions of people worldwide who do not have access to computers. 'I have always liked the idea of going to print because a big part of what we are about is to disseminate knowledge throughout the world and not just to people who have broadband,' Wales told Reuters, adding that he is talking to several publishers and agents. ...more

3G operators need to start pushing the technology to businesses before WiFi phones get a foothold, according to research group Canalys.
