Skype plays down clone rumours

Skype has dismissed claims by a Chinese software company to have reverse-engineered the protocols that underlie the Internet telephony software used by millions. The news of a potential rival client able to use the Skype network was broken by VoIP blogger Charlie Paglee who posted a screenshot of the software on his site. If true, this is serious news to Skype which will not only have a problem of a competitor using its network, but threatens to hurt the performance of the network at the same time. ...more

iTunes more popular than file-sharing - report

The iTunes Music Store is now more popular than most peer-to-peer file sharing networks, according to new research. NPD Group reports that 1.7 million US households downloaded music from Apple's online music store during March, the same number as obtained files using Limewire but more than Kazaa, BearShare, Ares, Morpheus and iMesh. ...more

Hollywood studios pull plug on Sony Universal Media Disc

It looks as though the Universal Media Disc format on the PlayStation Portable is a dead duck as far as a media for playing movies.
