Doubled-sided scanning comes to the UK

Ricoh's new Aficio 1060/1075 copier/printers can print, copy and scan, and boast a 1,200dpi print resolution and an Automatic Document Feeder that enables double-sided scanning in one pass. The 'world-first' double-sided copier/printers process documents at speeds of 60ppm and 75ppm respectively. Apple has briefly leaked a mention of a touch-screen iPod in a PDF on the Developer section of its website. According to InfoWorld, the PDF referred to support for iPod Notes on 'touch-screen models.' China's Internet filtering regime is 'the most sophisticated effort of its kind in the world' according to a new report by the Open Net Initiative. The OpenNet Initiative is a partnership of universities, including Cambridge University, that seeks to test and evaluate the methods and extent of censorship of electronic media throughout the world. EU to investigate ink pricing

The EU is to investigate allegations of anti-competitive practices by leading printer makers, following complaints that users are being overcharged for ink cartridges. The worldwide market for printers and ink and toner cartridges is dominated by four companies: Canon, Epson, Lexmark and Hewlett-Packard. The vendors make most of their profits in this market from disposable cartridges, whilst making next to nothing on the printers. ...more
