AMD facing delays on launch of 90nm desktop processors

AMD may be forced to push back the launch of its 90nm desktop processors into the second half of 2005, according to Xbit Labs. The site says that 'sources close to the company' say that the mooted AMD Athlon 64 FX-57, previously codenamed 'San-Diego' will not now appear in the first half of next year as suggested in an AMD roadmap published only last week. VeriSign's 'Domain Name Expiration Notice' marketing campaign is filling up its wardrobe with law suits for every occasion. The latest suit on the hanger is courtesy of Go Daddy Software, the sixth largest domain name registrar, who objected to the campaign and has filed a suit alleging VeriSign tricked its customers into transferring domains to VeriSign and paying $29 per domain, as opposed to $8.95 charged by Go Daddy. ...more

Brits fail to dispose of data on dumped PCs

The majority of British companies do not take sufficient precautions in wiping sensitive data from hard disks before disposing of them, a survey has found. Only 23 per cent of companies which disposed of a PC in the past 12 months made the data irrecoverable.
