Adobe is to discontinue development of its PageMaker page layout software by offering existing users an upgrade path via new plug-ins for InDesign. Apple and Samsung fall out on memory deal

A possible deal between Apple and Samsung to produce NAND flash memory chips has fallen through after Apple reportedly pulled out. The Korea Times newspaper said that Apple decided to withdraw after Korean authorities said they were considering an investigation into allegations of unfair pricing practices by Samsung. The GNU Project has admitted that its FTP servers have been hacked. The organisation says that the servers were compromised as far back as March but only came to light at the end of July. Cutting the cost of ASDL installation

ISPs quick to pass on the savings to consumers. From 1 October, for three months, BT Wholesale is to halve the setup costs for IPStream, the broadband service it makes available to ISPs.
