Ofcom details online rights for TV

Ofcom has set out its proposals for the allocation of rights over the sale of TV content on the Web. While US programme makers, notably Disney, have already begun selling content through Apple's iTunes Music Store, UK broadcasters and cannot agree with content producers on who controls where and when material should be available on the Internet. Ofcom proposes that broadcasters have complete control initially, in what it calls a 'primary window' after which they would be able to restrict what programme makers do with the material, the so-called 'holdback window'. ...more
