Security company warning of vulnerabilities in Windows XP SP2

A US security company is warning that it has found ten 'serious' vulnerabilities in Windows XP systems with SP2 installed. The company says it has passed on details of the flaws to Microsoft but won't reveal anything publicly. Microsoft bids to overturn record EU fine

Microsoft is to go to the European Courts this week in a bid to overturn the record fine and conditions imposed by the EU after it found that the company had engaged in anti-competitive practices. Following the decision Microsoft was fined a record half a billion euros and told to open the Windows APIs to rival server manufacturers such as Sun Microsystems and remove Media Player from copies of Windows XP shipped in Europe. Nildram offers free ISP switching and broadband upgrades

Nildram is waiving the charge for customers of any other ISP who wish to switch to Nildram, though this only applies on a like-to-like basis. If you wish to convert from an engineer-installed to a self-installed service or change the connection speed, you have to migrate your existing service to Nildram first, before applying to re-grade their connection speed. However, the ISP is also offering its existing customers free upgrades to a faster ADSL connection, though 'free' of course does not inlcude the higher monthly rental for the faster services. ...more
